Composé à partir d’échantillons et d’enregistrements de terrain, le projet « Champ invisible » propose la traversée improbable d’environnements sonores hétéroclites et contrastés. Par le détour de places publiques, de rues et de sentiers, on est transporté d’un continent à l’autre tantôt par des rythmes aux mécaniques érodées, tantôt par des mouvements orchestraux qui se brisent et s’essoufflent comme des vagues dans le paysage. Le «champ invisible» peut être envisagé comme un espace fantasmé que l’on parcourt, mais il peut aussi prendre la forme d’une variable cachée dans un programme, celle-là même qui définit les liens indicibles entre des éléments disparates.

C'est en triant ses archives que Sébastien Cliche a redécouvert l'enregistrement produit lors d’une performance à Mutek pour un public muni de casques d’écoute. Le mix final publié par Aquaplanage a été réalisé avec attention afin d’améliorer l’expérience sans dénaturer l’exécution originale du projet.

Composed from samples and field recordings, the "Champ invisible" project offers an unlikely journey through diverse and contrasting soundscapes. Through public squares, streets, and paths, one is transported from one continent to another, sometimes by rhythms with worn-out mechanics, sometimes by orchestral movements that break and fade like waves in the landscape. The "invisible field" can be seen as a fantasized space that one travels through, but it can also take the form of a hidden variable in a program, the very one that defines the unspeakable links between disparate elements.

It was while sorting his archives that Sébastien Cliche rediscovered the recording produced during a performance at Mutek for an audience equipped with headphones. The final mix published by Aquaplanage was carefully crafted to enhance the experience without altering the original execution of the project.
